Inline Hockey is an extremely accessible sport that anyone can play. Some of the easiest ways to start playing hockey are as simple as street hockey.
Street Hockey
Similarly, street hockey can be played anywhere you can find a clear asphalt or wood surface – as the name suggests this even includes your own residential street! It requires only a small amount of equipment (skates, stick and helmet). Street hockey is only one small step away from taking your hockey to the next level by going to your local rink.
Rink Hockey
Rinks are the place to go for development classes and House Leagues. Most rinks will have skates, sticks and helmets available for you to use and there will be coaches there to help you work on your skills in the ‘learn to play’ development classes. On top of this, most rinks also have ‘House Leagues’, which are small leagues run by the rink for all of their new and inexperienced development players, so you can play in game situations with and against people of your same skill level.
Once you are too good for a House League, you can join a club in the Victorian Competition. You can also eventually play for Victoria and Australia if you are selected at tryouts.
